i like to dance, even just after i wake up in the morning...and yep, to lullabyes even

riding a two wheeler before i am even three years old....i feel sooo big! i am learning about the brakes, but after today, i think i figured it out! we hav eyet to take the training wheels off my bike because it is pretty big, so i am borrowing leo's little bike to learn on.

i do love my gymnastics class! this is my very first day in the big boy class! we learned how to go backwards and i did awesome! it took me a few spins to figure out how to turn backwards on the mat so I could practice my backroll. mama was in the stands, but i did not know it. benjamin, one of the bigger kids in my class was assigned to help me. we did all kinds of stuff, and he would do it first, then i would watch and try to do it. mama watch in astonishment as i leaped off a foam pad 5 feet off the ground to grab a high bar and swing from it...the pad was supposed to be under the high bar so we could just reach up and grab it...after the instructor saw me hanging there and could not figure out how i got there, he moved it to the correct place...it took me a while to muster up the courage to make that jump...but i did it...and nailed it too! good thing, or mama might have had some serious words with the instructor.

Here we are months after my last blog post, and my how I have grown in size, mind and physical capabilities. I learned how to ride a bike, not just with training wheels, but when Leo took off down the alley (he is 4.5), I wanted to be free too, so, mama was in DC with Auntie Em, and papa let me ride on 2 wheels and I did it! I can count to 11, write an E, spell my name, and I know exactly where I live. Today I recited the days of the week...got thru Monday to Friday, and then, the sixth day and Sunday. Mama and papa were clueless where I got the sixth day from, and tried to convince me it was Saturday, but whatever. Papa forgot his wallet and mama had to go back and take it to him and I said "Damnit, what is taking him so long"...mama tried not to laugh, then tried to be stern and tell me that was not a nice way to talk....I got me some puddle stompers and tonight went out the freezing cold rain and stomped some serious puddles...some up to my knees....

we planted our garden this weekend too! mama gave franny the notice that my last day is may 19, I will start big boy school when we get back from our may vacation. it was sad day, and will be harder when it actually comes. life is good though. we are all super busy...but life is good.

i am getting so big and am such a busy little guy that mama has a hard time keeping up with my blog. today for example, i had music class where i played the trombone, then i went to the playground for an hour, then we met some of nana and grandpops friends who were in town for lunch, then naptime and now over to lily's house. i like to sing and dance and am very good at asserting my independance and opinions. you would think i am a regular teenager with the attitudes. life is good! just realized we need to load some new pics of me, so give mama a few days and she will try to get some on the computer. thanks.

Music Class

I love music and i love music class. All week I have been practicing my ABCs so that I could sing them in front of everyone. Mama was so proud. I love playing the drums the best. I am going potty all the time all by myself and even am trying to wipe my own buns. the other day I was at my friend tessa's house and I put on her green and pink bathrobe and came downstairs and everyone was laughing saying alls i needed was an ascot and i could go to any lounge in town...so i took their cue and told them i was dressed up to take tessa on a date. she ran out of her room behind me buck naked, so i yelled at her to put some clothes on. mama was laughing so hard i thought she might fall over. we had a really nice visit with nana when she came out last weekend. she hung out with me all day thurs and fri cause franny was sick too. well, life is good here. i keep telling papa to take me skiing, so i am hoping he just might, but mama says we need to wait until i am three.

today we went iceskating and then saw santa. i was not really sure if i wanted to talk to him even after i talked about going to see him all day, bu tthen he gave my friend lily a candycane and i had to go and see what it was all about. i asked him for a basketball and a train. this santa likes to ride his bike, which makes him extra cool.

It was time. I knew it, but she did not. I think mama was a bit traumatized to cut my hair because she loved my curls so much, but it was time. She used this phase of my not liking anything girly to her advantage. In the last few weeks several people have told me i look like a girl, which I did not like. But when they put a girl toy in my first ever happy meal, mama kinda thought it might be time to trim it back a little. Here is the video of the event.

the first snow of the year

I am getting so big and I have decided that when I grow up I want to be a drummer. That's right, and I have said it a bunch, so that means that I mean it. I even drummed in a drum circle the other night. Mama and papa took me to see Elmo Live today, I was mesmerized--it was a good story and I smiled a lot. Mama got bad parent of the year award for sitting me on the edge of the stage and then stepping back to take my picture and stopped paying attention to me for a second I decided that cookie monster was going to get me so I jumped off the stage and smashed into the ground--mama got a stern talking to from the security gaurd and alot of dirty looks from other parents; but i was all smiles, did not even cry, and she felt so bad she bought me a $10 elmo balloon.

i love halloween and i love to trickertreat, for about 10 minutes, then i am just done. mama wont let me eat all the candy, so i get mad. mama is at work and needs to get back to it now, but she posted these for you to look at since it has been way too long. by the way, i can go potty all on my own now. i am dressing myself. i ask great questions. i have a terrible cough but am powering through it. i am starting to read books to my stuffed animals and calib. i get crazy attached to certain things. life is good. these are pics from teh sustainable living fair, from random outings with mama, from cousin tim's wedding and my super fun time with my cousins and from halloweening.

Mama says sorry for not posting in sooo long. It has been really busy around here lately. I missed her a lot when she was in Italy, but not near as much as she missed me. Papa and I had some good bonding time. I had lots of great visitors in August...first my BB and GrampC came out, and we had a blast doing projects and we went to my first rodeo. Then Aunt Emma, Granpops and Nana came out and we went to Tour de Fat and hiking. And just yesterday, Anice came to visit. I went on a 2 day camping trip with papa, elizabeth tessa and finnegan, and it was a blast! October is going to be busy too, lots of travel for mama and papa, so it will likely be a while before there is another post. By the way, I rode a bike with training wheels all the way down the alley and back, surprised the heck out of mama and papa. I tear up the alley on my tricycle too now that I can peddle, but I want a big boy bike, so mama and papa are going to get me one. Also, one of the new neighbors moved in all their motorized toys, and so much to my parents shigrin and dismay, I love them....So...here are some pics from the last month. We hope you enjoy!

we just got back from a week at the beach, and i was a rock star. despite nearly 1 15 hour travel day yesterday, i am still in good spirits. i was soooo good on all of the plane and car rides! i even earned myself a set of wings. i talked to pilots and i now am obsessed with airplanes. mama might have to add some airplanes to my monkey wall. i was scared of the ocean at first, but as the week went on, i learned to love it. the surf was pretty rough, so i could not go near it alone, and one time, i was brave and tried to boogie board in the low surf zone and got washed off the board. mama freaked out and said i could not go near the water without my lifejacket again. i played with all of my new friends soooo well. you would think with 9 kids under the age of 6 there would have been some fights, but we all got along really well. i made some great friends. jacob and i really hung out a lot and aidan too, i think those dudes are just about awesome. and of course, all the other kids were super cool and fun too. mama thinks the best part was when our good buddy brian showed up as a surprise from germany, that was pretty special. now, time to start planning for the next one, 3 years from now when me and all of my buds will be a lot older and more adverterous. i got a super cool hat from brian from egypt and an awesome life is good shirt from ad. adelaide beat me up a bunch, she is tough and smart and really cute. all of the kids were so fun and so cute and all the adults, well they are adults, but mama thinks it is just awesome that we all got to spend a whole week together. if it had only been a little cooler and less windy (100 degrees with 100 percent humidity and 30mph winds). love to all

This weekend we went on vacation to Salida to see our friends PC and Georgie. it was really pretty awesome. i swam in the arkansas river, it was cold. papa boated with pc on the browns canyon section and then mama and georgie did happy hour on the big bend flat section. then we all met in town for a little wading. we took wonderful walks in the beautiful morning weather. i did not sleep a lick though. i had this super squeaky air mattress and i tossed and turned and it was pretty bad sleeping altogether. which is one reason we headed home a little early. on the way back we stopped at a place called tinytown. it is a town for tinies like me. pretty frigging cool really. i rode the minature train twice--one was a coal fried steam engine and the other a racer engine. and i played in lots of little buildings. i am pretty much a man of my own will. i know what i want and well, i am very independant. i talk all the time, really, i mean, i don't know where i get it from, but i always have something to say. i love my dogs and have been grossing mama out by wanting to kiss them on the lips. my bestest little buddy moved away this week. mama is very very sad about it. today i carried around my little motorcycle that rocco left at my house and i told people he gave it to me and i even know that he moved. good thing we have lots of other little buds in the hood. well, time to watch some fireworks.

I have been watching a lot of TV lately and as a result am a huge fan of football. or rather soccer as i know it. every morning i want to wake up and put on my soccer shorts and go play soccer. i like to run around and yell GOAL!!! Mom thinks I might have just begun gettng my 2 year molars because i am being a handful. i am, and the whole family is, beyond very sad that next week our neighbors Jeff, Amy and Rocco are moving back to IL. Rocco has become one of if not my bestest buddy here. we play almost every day together. thi spast weekend we all went up to other neighbors jan and henry's beach property on the lake--it was fantastic. we swam, built sand castles, walked around. it was really great. today was bike to work day and mama loaded me up and we biked all around town getting free food and coffee. i saw two cows and drank raw milk from them. the one was very pregnant and i got to see the calf kick inside her, it was really cool. i love cows. i also love spiders...actually, i like to say--OH MY GOSH, look at that spider, smash it mama. so mama goes and finds papa, who readily removes it in a way more humane way. this past weekend we also went to my good friend cassidy's third birhtday which was AWESOME! we played, her tess and me, all over their lush grassy backyard--and we ate lots of cake. then the next day i got to spend father's day with papa, mama, tessa, doug and elizabeth. we had a wonderful breakfast and bikeride. Happy fathers day to GrampC and Granpops! Lotsa love to all.

I wake up I say it is my birthday, I go to bed and I say, tomorrow I wake up and its my birthday. I then say I am going my other friends birthdays. I love birthdays! Mama and papa got me a new swingset, well, we are sharing it with our neighbors cause it was really expensive, it is a great big rainbow system and we can all play on it at once, I am super excited. Mama spent nearly her whole mother's day staining it. Papa and I made her a yummilicious breakfast of blueberry ricotta pankcakes and bacon and eggs and we ordered her pizza for dinner, she really liked it! It is supposed to snow here this week and then be in the 70s next week, thank goodness because gramb, grampc and uncle mike are coming to visit! I like to play all of my instruments still, but am focused on piano, drums and harmonica right now. Papa showed the video of me playing piano to a guy who said I was very advanced, because he is a teacher and said his 4-5 year olds don't graps the concept of 2 hands or keystrokes. I am also very creative, I told mama the other night that I got spanked at daycare by suzette because i hit her daughter sonja...well suzette had not even been there....what an imagniation I have! Anyhow, life is good, hope everyone is doing well!

The easter bunny came and hid eggs and brought me a basket of goodies (thanks gramb and grampc). Mama got really really sunburnt on her neck (haha she is a redneck). She hid lots of eggs and the whole alley gang got together for an egg hunt and a brunch and we played outside all day. When we woke up it was cloudy, then it was sunny, and then out of nowhere at 9am a blizzard moved in for about 10 minutes, then it passed and then it got to be 60 and sunny--the perfect day. i got really sick for the first time ever this morning projectile vomiting, it scared mama and papa. but then i was fine, just taking lots of naps and not eating, but am in good spirits. we hope everyone else had a good easter.

This past weekend I participated in potty training boot camp--3 days of attention, love and 1000's of "tell US when you have to go potty." I did GREAT! No poop accidents, dry naps, and last night I was dry all night. I tell them when I have to go about 90% of the time, but unfortunately, it is that I have to go right then, so I don't always make it to the bathroom. I got a fire truck as my big reward. Nana got here last night and she and I hung out a lot today. I am excited to spend all day tomorrow with her...let's hope she is ready for me and my terrible still potty training two's for 8 hours. I know she raised 4 kids, and I promised mama i would be a good boy, so I am sure we will get along great. I am gonna kill mama for posting pics of me in my underwear, but she thought they were too cute to pass up.

Mama says sorry yall that she has been sick, busy and negligent of the blog. A nasty virus hit our house and I was sick and then mama was sick, and still is a little bit...like 10 days later! But we are all on the mend and spring is here and that means lots of time playing in the alley. Today we took a wagon ride and walked my dogs to the mailboxes. That's right, daisy is now good enough to walk all the way to the mailboxes and back (but not much further). I tell her all the time she is a good girl and that I love her. I have also learned to tell her "no bark." I am talking up a storm. Mama picked me up from daycare the other day and (at 22 months) I said, "What did you do today, Jen" clear as day. I know his mama's name is Jen and papa's name is Tom and when prodded, and asked what my name is, I always first reply "big boy" and then with big pride I say "Ellis Hayes." And I am a big boy. Tonight after dinner I was contemplating life and coloring when I looked at mama and said, gotta poop...so we ran up to the potty and I did it, I took a gigantic human poop on the pot. Mama loved on me for an hour over it. After this weekend, I should be fully potty-trained, only in underpants, all the time, even at night. I love to talk about my friends and what I do, and about the bulldozers across the street and of course, how the "train went to the roundhouse to take a nap and when it wakes up it will carry freight to the next town" (yes, no joke). 22 months old folks, I am one smart articulate cookie. Life is good.

A few weeks of past and lots has happened. I got to go to Florida to see my GramB and GrampC and Uncle mike and aunt amy and their dog Tucker. We got ther and it was very cold and rainy--but that did not stop us from having fun and going to the beach. Mama got food poisoning and GramB got a little sick, but we all still had fun. I fed squirrels, I saw dolphins and I built sand castles. Uncle Mike tried to corrupt me with finger pulling...I was a a rock start flyer, barely cried at all on the the way there and nto at all on the way back. It has been snowing for a while here, so we went sled riding and bowling today, it has been a great family day together. Daisy is doing better. After way too much money and quite a bit of pain for all of us, especially her, her surgery was a success and she is on the road to recovery. She started walking 5 minutes three times a day this week. Life is good. Love to everyone.

we have a backlog of video and pics to post for you all...i now sing A,B,C,D, little star (only now did mama realize they were the same tune) and i say 1,2,5,7. I stay in my bed (thank god mama says). I am getting some new teeth, and they hurt and i am up a lot in the middle of the night...hope uncle mike and amy and gramb and grampc can sleep through it next week while i am in florida with them. daisy is spending another night in the hospital, as they can provide better care for her there than we can here, she ended up having to have both knees pretty much rebuilt, as all her ligaments were torn. it is going to be a long road to recovery for her. the sledding pics are from the day she tore her first acl...and by the way nana and granpops, i love my sled--thanks!. after the phone battery died that day my friends ben and max brought over their sleds and i went down the hill all by myself and then the 3 of us went down a bunch and crashed a few times and i cried, and i laughed and it was really fun!

big boy bed!!!

so i am in a big boy bed now. this past weekend after yet another attempt to escape and an absolute refusal to put on the sleeping bag, mama took the front off of my crib. the first night i was a rock star, i did not even move. mama was up the whole night checking on me because she was worried i would fall out or get crazy. then the next day, i took a great nap in the bed. well, that was the end of it. the next night i fell out the first time (it is actually a pretty good drop off) and was still pretty much asleep, and then the second time i hit the couch cushion on the way down and rolled under the bed, where it was totally dark and blocked off on all sides and i kinda freaked out and so did mama and papa and at 5am that morning mama totally took my entire crib apart and now i am sleeping on a mattress on the floor. i love it, i am such a big boy. calib sleeps with me and all my monkeys sleep on the floor next to me. i have a pretty bad cold, which mama hopes goes away quick because we are going to florida in 2 weeks to see gramb, grampc and uncle mike and aunt amy. i am so excited. i love the beach! my dog daisy tore her 2nd back leg acl the other day and she is not feeling very good so i cannot pet her, which makes me sad. i think mama and papa are going to do a double knee surgery because we all think she has several good years left in her and cannot bear to see her go yet...we will know for sure tomorrow.

i love to sing now...i sing twinkle twinkle a LOT, and i also sing the song that says, have you ever seen a monkey a monkey (a lassie) go this way and that....i can really carry a tune.

mama promises to try to update more often. the problem is most of the video and pics we have taken lately are all on papa's iphone and mama cannot access those. so he promises to get them all uploaded so we can share them. everything from cheering for obama during the state of the union, to being crazy "happy baby" wild running around in my diaper.

lotsa love to everyone, and please send all of your love to my dogs. daisy has a lot to go through and jack is just totally acting out and feeling neglected.

i know it has been a while but we have been very very busy, and mama has been slacking on taking pictures...especially after she saw how great the photo shoot pictures went. things have been a little hectic with daisy tearing her acl and jack almost dying from eating rasin bread...mama has spent a lot of time at the vet and i just cannot understand why i have to be seperate from the dogs right now. i am growing every day, in size, in willpower, and in absolute brilliance as mama puts it. . my 2 favorite books right now are Moonride and Jazzbaby, and I like to say mama i want to read moonride, and it kinda freaks her out.

Ok, so mama is kinda freakin out about how smart I am. I now speak in complete sentences...some of the time. I say--I want nana to hold me and where did my papa go and mama, i want a snack. much of the time i just scream i want mommy or i want papa...i am going through a little separation anxiety. but here is why mama is super excited. the neighbors gve us a piano, a real one, a stand up. we moved it in last night and i went right to work figuring it out. i play with two hands, and i put on a concert for papa and grandpops last night, i played the piano and sung. i call it the "nano"....video to come! between that, my guitar and my drums, mama is thinking i might just be a rock star after all (but she of course, will let me choose my own path). i also now (a little late) have learned the song jingle bells...I say jingle bells, all the way...i like it because the song talks about horseys...i cannot decide if the horsey or the cow is my favorite animal....much love!

Christmas was awesome! I said "cool" so many times. I am so grateful for everything I got, thank you! I LOVED my tool bench from GramB and GrampC, I am obsessed with it and it keeps me busy. I cannot stop carrying around my Calib Rudolfo, my new Latino cabbage patch kid doll. I have to have him to sleep and I am very good at giving him a bottle and my auntie emma is teaching me how to make him breakdance on his head. I got the COOLEST drum in the world and I make some mad music on it...emma, mama and i had a drum circle and I can keep a serious beat...It is great!!! it is going into my music room. I am getting a piano this week. it needs some repair, but it is FREE! I was at the caroling party and i played rita's piano and i used 2 hands and multiple fingers on each hand and everyone was very impressed, so mama is very excited to get me a piano! I got some very cool books and t-shirts and a monkey hat and i got a stuffed eagle from my gigi--it is awesome--it even has talons! It was from Alaska. I am still trying to figure out how to work my dreamcatcher because I got bad dreams last night, but I love it and it is very pretty. I got a train set that is awesome and i love to push my trains around! and I got this magnetic set of my name letters and I am having a blast with those! And, I got a few donations to the Ellis Hayes fund, which is awesome, cause now you all have helped boost up my college account (although papa is hopeful college will be free by then, in which case it will help pay for my wedding or something)! Thank you all, and to those that could not be here or we could not be there with, all our love and we missed you bunches. Merry Christmas!!!!

it has been a very busy holiday season...we have had several parties at our house and gone to several more. my favorite was when all the birthing group came over to play. we had sooo much fun. i also went caroling on sunday. i love to sing falalala--i clapped a lot and the best part, and i am still talking about it...is the FIRETRUCK. we sang to the firefighters and they let us climb on their truck...it was so neat! We also recently found out that mama and papa's friends eliz and doug and chris and lori are both expecting at the same time--so we are very excited for them...2 new little friends for me to play with. and no, mama says this is NOT inspiring her to want to make me a little brother or sister. we are super excited for the whole hayes clan to come visit this week and are very sad we will not see the crawford clan or GG or any of the other relatives. life is good, we are happy. oh, and mama decided to hobble me instead of get me a big boy bed, so my very own little sleeping bag is in the mail...which she hopes will prevent me from throwing my leg up over the crib. Oh....and the biggest news...I am pretty regularly going on the potty. I am not telling people I need to go very much, but I go pee-pee on it before bathtime and sometimes I sit on it because mama puts me on it, and i pee then. And at Miss Franny's house I have gone pooh on the potty 2 days in a row. Mama and papa are not actively potty training me because I cannot pull up my own pants, but it is nice to be trying and collecting lots of stickers because of it!

i did it, i finally did it--i was able to throw 1 leg over the top of my crib--i am on my way to getting out of that thing. mama is super freaked out, because it is a loooooooonnnng way down from up there. she caught me in the act. this means i get to move up into a big boy bed this week or weekend....before i try to climb out again and hurt myself. she has been doing lots of research online about whether to move me to a toddler bed, a twin or a full....given my room size, a full is not really an option...so i am getting a twin bed, i think with some storage underneath. mama wants to redo my whole room when she is at it...since she decorated before she knew if i was a boy or a girl. i am going to keep my jungle them, just make it a little more boyish....maybe paint a dark blue stripe around the room....maybe when nana, auntie emma and auntie gina are out here they can help mama pick out paint colors...and maybe we could even have a redecorate ellis's room party....(if they are up for it).

we went to the downtown kids kristmas yesterday with all my friends. we rode a big carrige ride pulled by huge clydesdales--i loved the horses. i also met santa--he freaked me out==with mama i was ok, but when he tried to hold me i freaked out. we had a lot of fun. i danced to carolers, joy to the world was my favorite--my friend lyla danced with me. mama and papa are having a party for ihs work friends today, so mama said i have to get off the computer to get ready.

oh and by the way, we have over a foot of snow this morning.

I went to my friend Sonja's 3rd birthday party this weekend. her great grandpa called me a pretty princess. i mean, I was there with all the ladies, and he was a bit on the aged side, so maybe he could not see that i was wearing blue everything and black shoes--not a drop of pink, except for my kitty ears that sonja made me....so mama and papa figured it was finally time to do the deed....plus my hair was starting to get caught on stuff....so here is documentation of the whole event...with before and after pics. papa says mama scapled me on one side and it looks funny, but i think she did great given that i wuold not sit still

also, on another front, i am very aggressive...i like to pinch, kick, bite, scratch...so I spend a lot of time in time out and mama and papa are working very hard with me to change this.

I like to sit on my new potty with my clothes on...and i say i have to poop, but then i wont actually go on the potty....but mama and papa are not ready to potty train me yet, so its ok.

for thanksgiving we went to the neighbors, the chiani's...with the beals and the brown-yates' and it was so fun, we had baked turkey, fried turky, smoked pork loin...tons of delicious veggies and digs and stuffings and of course, the perfect compliment of papa's ale. all of the kids and me played like crazy. leo took his pants off and refused to put them back on and it was funny...he is only 2.5....we wished we had been with family, but this was very nice too.

we are sooo looking forward to christmas and the whole hayes clan comin gout...i have not seen everyone in soo long they are not going to believe it is me. i am a little sad (and so is mama) that i will nto get to see the other uncle mike or gramb or grampc...

We have been having lots of outings with the alley folks this week. Miss Teresa had us over for Mr. Jim's birthday and we played like crazy kids. Then today we went back over there for a taco lunch (I like tacos) and then we went to Blake's house for cake cause he turned 4. I am a total ham for the camera these days and love to say cheese. I am not so good right now though with agressiveness. I am fine with other kids, but with mama and papa I like to pinch, hit scratch and bite. They are worried because they don't know where it is coming from--but they read their books and it all says it is normal--but they do not like it and I am spending an inordinate amount of time in :time out: as a result. i love to say excuse me these days--I will stand in your way and then say excuse me adn ask you to move. I love to kick my soccer ball while saying kick and then scream GOAL and run around clapping. I am still a little stinker and cannot quite grasp the concept that I am not allowed to stand on the couch, despite the fact I fell of it backwards the other day because of it. i also fell down the short steps into the playroom at daycare. well, i did not really fall. sonja pushed me for no reason--but we were all ok. mama is just very glad it was not the big staircase. I went to the Windsor Dairy with my friend Tessa and her family--we saw cows, chickens, goats and sheep. The cows got milked and got milk when I was there. I saw a 1 month old baby cow get a bottle. then one of the 3 month old cows chewed the collar off of one of the other little cows and it ran around all crazy, and it was very funny. I said moo for many hours that night and into today. love to all.

I constantly push the limits with jumping on the couch, so mama and papa got me a trampoline, which i like, but i bit the handlebar foam the first time i got on it. i say "i shared" and smile real big. i am in a bad habit of waking up at 11:30 and 2:30, but have pushed back my am wake-up time till 6 now, which mama and papa are most grateful for....5 am was just to early.

mama went to portland the day nana left and papa and i were all alone for a day before the big snow came. gramb and grampc were lucky to get in that morning, and in th eend the news said we got 21 inches of snow, in a totally unpredicted storm. mama was in portland where it was surprisingly sunny and warm. i decided to start calling gramb "bb" for a while. we had a good visit, but what we could do was kinda limited, so we hung out at home a lot. on halloween though we had a great alley party and i was a trickertreating rockstar. i knocked on doors, i said tick-er-deet, i grabbed fistfuls of candy and stuffed them in my bag--i was like a pro at this, mama was super surprised to see how good at it i was...but i learned from my neighbors pretty quickly. i have not tried a single peice of candy yet though...mama and papa hid it somewhere, and i know they are secretly eating it. i have all kinds of words and am veyr good at telling you when i poop and pee. i like to lay down for my afternoon nap, get real relaxed, and then drop a big bomb in my pants right before i fall asleep...but then it is hard to sleep, so i have to call for someone to change me so i can get comfortable again, and since they ignore me when i cry, i had to learn to say, "i pooped" then they come in. i ask to go potty, bu tmost of the time i just sit there. i love to brush my teeth--i say "brush teeth" about 10 x a day and run to my sink, climb on my stool and brush them. i can count to three on my own, but mainly that is cause mama is always warning me with "1.....2....3" so I started saying 2 and 3, forgetting all about 1, and well, i think i get it now....i love to dance and play my guitar. i love to play catch me if you can. mama would try to describe my vocabulary, but it would take a long time, so let's just say if you listen hard enough, i can say just about anything you want. and guess what, i am only 17 months old. i am cute as ever and am geting to be really fun, but also into my terrible two's a little early. love to all...and thanks again to both nana and the crawford grandparents for coming and hanging out with me, it was AWESOME!

mama is so very sorry that she has not posted in so long. she and papa and i have been so very busy. she has been working another job on top of her real job to get more experience (in public affairs) and papa has been busy coming up with his beer recipe and brewing, in addition to his normal job. sory to say they had to throw out the whole entire batch cause it got infected and smelled terrible....we hope they try again. papa had a work retreat in the mountains and mama and i got to hang out all by ourselves for a few days. we missed him dearly. today is mama and papa's 6 year anniversary and yesterday was nana's birthday--happy birthday nana!!!! mama has been playing soccer on sundays, taking the time she would normally spend posting, and instead she is playing, which is one big reason she has not done this in so long. i am a crazy little dude. i am running full speed, falling on my face and head a lot, tripping over my shoes, but getting a lot better at it. I have so many words now. I say tree a lot, cause when we are walking, we pass a lot of them. I still love the choo-choo and think tht all big trucks are choo-choo-s too. yesterday at the toy store i saw a choo-choo and in a complete sentece said, mama i want the choo-choo. so mama got me the choo-choo. i associate things. i pick up papa's shoes and i say papa shoes, and mama's shoes, and my shoes. i clearly say i want that and i don't want that. i am really big into no. i understand time out, but don't like it and am finally learning that stoping what i am doing before mama gets to "3" is a good thing. i walk my dogs now. i love to hold their leashes and walk around with them. diasy had to get her tooth pulled this week and she hurt a lot and i gave her lots of love. the vet said she had never seen a closer, sweeter relationship between a dog and a toddler as between daisy and i. today it snowed 3 inches, and i am going to put on my snowsuit and go out and play. last weekend, ...CONGRATS Anice and Reece,...we wish we could have traveled home to see everyone and be there to celebrate, but traveling far was not really economically or job time feasible--papa was brewing and had theirbig annual strategic planning meeting thurs and mon. we had some local friends getting married just a few hours from here, so we went down there when we got off work...it ended up being a beautiful weekend. the wedding was at some hot springs, so we all enjoyed those. and our friends chris, amy and roan have now come to visit us and we are having a good old time. i easily hold my own with the 2.5 year olds across the street, and love hanging with teh girls at day care. when i leave i give everyone hugs. yesterday i told franny that i loved her. note, i have nto yet told this to mama or papa because they know, but i did tell franny so mama would know that i like dit there. here are some pics from the last month, we will try to post more often. oh, and we finished our side yard finally--papa did a great job and me and all my buddies climb on the rocks and have a great time. love to all!

hi there. it has been an eventful week. i have played a lot with my neighborhood friends, been to lots of parks and got to see some horses. I am getting very good at running and talking. i say all kinds of things now, i like to mimic what i hear, but far and away i love to say shoes, and i like to go and get shoes and try to put them on. i am not being a good eater cause I am getting mroe teeth. i am pretty darn willful, and very brave and adventerous. we are all so excited that gramb and ad, gene and adelaide are coming this week!!!!! sorry we have not posted in a while, it has been super busy. my head is looking better and we postponed the surgery until late august adn hope we can canel it alltogether. i had my 15 month checkup this week--i am still in the 97% for height adn the 68% for weight--I am a big boy. I am exceeding all of my milestones. I love to say--my shoes and car now. I went to three concerts this weekend--i danced my butt off and loved it. papas friend burny gave me some super cool trucks that i love so much--he has had them for a long time, so i am very special to get them.

i know my head look sbad--we have an appointment at childrens hospital in denver on aug 17th to have a pediatric dermotologist look at it. this is my good friend aurora

after visiting with my cousins jack and reese, mama decided i needed my own vaccum--cause i liked their soooo much. now, when papa vacuums, i do it too...except i really want the real one, so we have to change it up sometimes. mama took me to the fountains at oak street plaza today and i had a blast...i even got myself a girlfriend, her name was Ava from Sacramento, CA--i let her sit in my bike trailer and i gave her hugs and kisses--we should have exchanged numbers or something. last night was papa's annual volleyball tourney--it was a hoot--his team wore hilarious bright pink tank tops and green headbands--they got third place out of 20something teams. i got to play with all my brewery baby friends--there were about 9 or 10 of us around the same age. they had a bouncey blow up gym and lots of sand--i felt like i was back at the beach.

over the last two weeks i have visted ky, in and michigan. it was so wonderful. since mama has limited time to type for me, we are instead going to spend our time putting up pictures here. just know all that we had a wonderful time with both famillies, and miss everyone dearly. i truley loved my first time on a boat and my first time at the beach and cannot wait to see everyone again!

Its official! I am now a toddler. Yesterday I stood up on my own (not pulled up) and decided I wanted to go for a stroll. Both mom and dad saw it, which was so wonderful. I had been saving it up until a time when they were both there to watch. I had been calculating in my head for a long time on how to do it...so when on Sunday they were both in the room, I just did it, without warning...of course, mama had the camera handy and so on my second time around she caught it all on video--which will be posted very soon for you all to see. Life is getting pretty exciting!

we went to the pool cause mama and papa thought i was feeling better--the waterslides were awesome, we all went down them, even nana did. i ate some dinner and when we got home mama took my temp and it was up to 104.5, so she dosed me up with some ibprofin and her and papa took me to urgent care, by then my temp had dropped and they could not find anything wrong except fever...guess i am fightin off something funky. i finally calmed down and went to sleep and they stayed up and watched the crazy electircal storm that hit fort collins...and around 10 they woke me up to go to the basement cause there wa sa tornado warning...watching the storm was cool, but being in it, not so cool. no tornados hit. nana and uncle pete left and i am sad, i was a pretty cranky guy for their last 2 days here and feel pretty bad about it....but it was good to see them and we were happy they came!

hi everyone. i love to say hi, but my favorite word ever is uh'oh. I say it all the time. i am not quite sure the bes ttimes to use it, but i love it all the time. i also lik eto say no, when i don't like something. i am getting a little bit braver and standing on my own, and i have even tried a few steps without coaxing, but i am still really into crawling and not so into walking. we tried to go hiking today for fathers day...drove about 2.5 hours up past cameron pass to the colorado state forest and were hoping to get to lake agnes...it is .8 miles to the lake...i would say we had to turn around at about .5 because there was too much snow...and i was not feeling good. i was lethargic, pale, my eyes were watering adn i was fussing bigtime. ends up when we got home i had a 103.5 fever. i just got it down to about 101.5 after a dose of ibprofin and tylanol. i am getting 2 new teeth and just cut my top right second (i) tooth. Yesterday we went to the Irish festival and heard some good music. it was fun. i think tomorrow papa and unle pete might go rafting, but uncle pete is not feeling so hto righ tnow either. we saw a rainbow today. mama and i also gave papa a bunch of wheat beers to help him with his tasting for making his beer at the brewery...and we wish both grandfathers a very very happy father's day.

it has been raining a LOT lately...almost every day, which is very very odd for the front range...and very bad news for the deck getting finished. we found a little break in the rain last weekend to go hiking, it was beautiful, the spring wildflowers were in full bloom. oh, and i love blueberries very much, and spinach, nothing like some sauteed fresh spinach...i choose that over ice cream (no tthat I get offered it often.).

this memorial day we went up to the mountains to rita and toms ranchita to do some hiking, eating and hanging with good company....on the way up the skies were very very dark...and yes it rained and rained and rained some more, but we still had fun. i got to pet a horse and ate lots of new foods...asparagus, yummy! my friend tessa was there too! and the klepacs new puppy brodie who ate my had the first time i met him. the flowers were just amazing! jack loved the horses, he thinks he is a horse, or at least wishes he was. daisy tried to herd the horses, ran in there barking at them, then the stallion led the charge and they all turned to chase her out of the fence...pretty funny stuff

well, i almost have an outside place to play. the boards are down and now alls they need to do is put up a handrail to keep me safe...but it will be over a week before that happens, so for now, I am still confined to only looking at the deck, but ma and papa had dinne rout there last night and loved it. they decided to use recycled plastic lumber instead of treated wood--so I will not get splinters, they will never have to treat it, and i am not exposed to nasty chemicals. since padraic and doug were building it, i got to hang out with their kids, tessa, abigail and kylah...we had fun. we wish we were able to be in DC with everyone at the wedding and we wish claire and keith a wonderful wedding! we also need some good vibes to go to jack, he is very sick, but as a result he gets to eat homade chikn and rice for the next 5 days.

mama and papa threw me a bday bash on sunday and it was a blast...there were so many kids, it was a good time, thanks to everyone who came!!! mama even made me a cake from scratch, icing and all (she will most likely not do that again, although it did turn out quite good). I am not really walking much mor than a step or two at a time, but mama and papa are quite okay with that. i got mama a blackberry bush for mother's day. we started building our deck today so I would have a safe place to crawl around outside too. lots happening...ph and some pics from when we were home....a little late, but better late than never...this may have to be two posts, we will see.

I am lovin my big boy food these days. i am also lovin the swim lessons that mom, dad and i are taking...it is so fun, on monday i am going to learn how to put my head under--and yes, we will take video and post it for everyone to see. my favorite part is to climb and and jump in--of course mom has 2 hands on me at all times, and i cannot really jump, she more like lifts me in, bu ti think it is hilarious. i went to chuckecheese for the first time--with my sitter and 8 other kids--she had the 5 of us she normally has, and then 3 of her neices and nephews from holland were in and none of them spoke english, so i got my first dose of really being immersed in a foriegn language , dutch, and now per mom's request, franny talks to me in dutch most all of the time--but then when she tries to talk to mom, she forgets to switch back to english, so sometimes it is funny. i still love my dogs so much and very clearly say doggy and daisy and jack. gotta run time to go to the baby clothes swap and get me some new stuff...moms friend elizabeth is the best, she has organized it and is hosting it and i am so excited because i get to see my friend tessa....just back from the swap and not only did i get to see tessa, i got to see cassidy and jude and all kinds of other kids, it was awesome, and mom got me some shweet new (gently used) schtuff for free!!! and got to clena out the basement in the process (see you just take anything you no longer need and then put it out and then take whatever you want that is there--all free...it is the best)...hope all is well, love to all...there will probably not be another post before we come home next week, so we are so super excited to see everyone and show off all my new skills and words...be careful, i climb stairs!

i got my first bike helmet!!! since i am a big boy and now riding in the big seat of the bike trailer. it has rained a lot here in the last few days, denver got several feet of snow, all we got was rain, so much so that our natural area turned into a lake and the ducks moved in. also hung out with my jerry doll today, and very appropriatly, while wearing my tyedye shirt. love to all

Things have been going really well for me. I am sleeping through the nite now--7:30-5:30 am or 6am. I was super duper dude when mama went out of town to atlanta last week. she got to meet jacob, josh and molly's little guy and said he is just really cute and sweet...I will get to meet him next year. She got to get outside a little bit, but was mainly held up in meetings....while i was held up at Franny's. Papa had to work a lot, and so i was tere for some long days, and you know what--I did awesome! It is like a second home now...I love the other kids there and am trying all kinds of new things, like french toast! I am still obsessed with the vacuum and the train, and am starting to want more solids and less baby food. I have had a cough now for about 6 weeks, so we are going on monday to have it looked at. I have a runny nose that could win a marathon. but i am in great spirits. I dance all the time and I love music! I have started goin gup the steps but am trying to figure out how to get back down them. I tumbled down a few at the babysitters the other day, and then just laughed, I was not hurt at all...but now mama and papa and franny hav eto be extra careful. Daisy is just the best ever with me. she lets me crawl all over her and poke at her eyes. jack howeve,r is a grumpy ol teenager of a dog and always tries to get away from me and i chase him everywhere...daisy keeps eating my toys though, jck could care less. well, life is good. sorry mama did not tak emore pics this week, she was ot of town, she will take more and post them soon. if you will notice, i have some sweet curls forming around my ears these days....short on top long in the back....my parent's are from kentucky for sure! and please do not make fun of my outfit or my socks, we all know it is easy to laugh at;)

well the trip home ent better than the trip there, thats for sure--we got 2 seats to ourselves and then i tried to get down and crawl on the plane for the 1st hour and a hlaf and then slept the second half--we were so glad to see papa at the airport--it had been way too long. we had such a nice visit, we appreciate all the hospitality and help we got when we were home, it was wonderful. really really wonderful. we go to see all kinds of family too--from both sides, wihch was great--i did not get to see mom's crawford cousin's cause i was in bed, but she got to go out on the town with them, it was great to catch up. i did get to see my mom's cousin kelly and mom and dad, aunt arlene and uncle rob--and i think in my last post i talked about how good it was to see aunt linda and uncle dave and a very pregnant jodi and ryan and jack....well we got to meet baby reese and she was just way too cute for words!!! we also got to see gramb and grampc's good friends roscoe and brenda and they brought me the coolest uk sweatshirt ever--i am gonna wear it every day! they also gave mom and papa some schweet deck plans! well, we have been home a week now, and it has gone too fast. i started at my new babysitter on tuesday, i was only there a few hours and it looked like it was going to be a pretty easy transition, then on wed i was there for the whole day and freaked out--noone could hold me but franny, and any time she put me down i screamed horribly--she was not sure it was gonna work out, but the next day was better and by friday i was a champ, playin gby myself and crawling around like i owned the place--i left there smiling. franny is great so far. we went to my friend aurora's one year birthday party today and it was loads of fun--happy birthday aurora. when we were home we missed a very special birthday, our good friend tessa turned 2--so here is a happy borthday for you too tessa! mama is leaving tues for her first work trip--she will be gone 3 days and 2 nights, and papa is very worried, but knows he will just great. mama is gonna miss me and him terribly. it snowed here a lot last night, but it was a really wet snow, so now it is melting and is very sloppy--yuk! you will see in the pics that i got bath's in the sink and gramb's house, well, mom and dad tried to give me a bath in our sink tonight and i pooped everywhere--no more bath's in the sink after that--ha on them! well, much love to all.....t is not letting me load pics right now, so i am gonna post this and tr to load pics in a few minutes

hi there--well i was not such a good traveler this time around--i was awake the whole plane ride, did some serious screaming and had 2 poopy diapers on the flight...and then mom had the audacity to stick me in a car and drive me to columbus ohio, 2 hours away...it was a long trip--but we made it, safely. moms training was good and i got to spend some quality time with gramb and grampc walking around the convention center. then we came back and grama and granpaw came to visit, and we had such a nice time. we played in the grass, i had a little allergy maybe, but still loved it. i also got to see my great aunt sue, great aunt ruth, great uncle jim, greatn anut linda and great uncle dave and my mom's cousin jodi and her husband ryn and my third cousin jack. we wish them the best with their new bay girl coming to the world this sat. it was fun. aunt sue brought over a little rocking chair that was my great granpa ellis', and i am infatuated with it. i am still loving the vaccum, calling for it all the time and now i also say thank you--mom has not really heard it, but gramb and grampc have...anyhow--gotta get on teh road back to columbus, love to all.
