Ultrasound pic from 4_21_08

Here I am, all crammed up in my mom's belly. My leg is on the left--see how long it is. I have pretty big lips--my dad says I get those from him...my mom thinks I also have my dad's nose...guess we will see soon enough!

Hiking and ultrasounds

This weekend momma hiked 2 whole miles up at Hewlett-Gulch in celebration of 4/20 / Earth Day. Her friend Elizabeth offered her sunblock which she declined because she wanted to work on her tan, but she ended up a really burnt chest area. The hike was really nice. Then yesterday we had an ultrasound, I am getting so big I am all crowded up in the womb, my legs are really long and I have my dad's nose and mouth for sure--mom promises to post the pics tonight! The doctor says that there is a chance that I may get to come out the week of May 12th cause I am getting so big...this would actually be good, cause doc goes on a vacation the week after that! So who knows, I may get to meet my mom and dad and all of you sooner than I thought. Mom, dad and the dogs are all doing great!

Hospital Tour!

Mom and dad went on a tour of Poudre Valley Hospital last night. They learned all about what to do when they come in to have me. PVH has been rated a top 100 hospital for 5 years in a row now, which means it is a good one. The birthing suites are really nice, and some of them evenhave built in jacuzzis. Mom and dad will go there if all is well with a vaginal birth (c-sections are a totally different story) and then a few hours afterwards, they get moved to another room for the rest of their stay. They get their own personal nurse (1-1 ratio)! and if I am doing good, I get to stay with them the whole time, I never have to get taken away for anything at all! I know Jack and Daisy will be sad that mom and dad will be away for a few days, but I know they will be happy when we all come home!

Mama learns about diabetes

My mama has got the gestational diabetes, which I guess is common. They think that she just started getting it, since the sugars were not bonding to her red blood cells to much yet, which means hopefully that I am not a huge baby (in here I have nothing to compare myself too). The main concern is that I might get too big for her to deliver. But she takes her blood sugar 4 times a day now and is on a strict diet, so I think we will all be fine. The doctor's tell her she is just fine, and that in almost all new moms the problem goes away after birth.

My papa sold his truck so I could have a safe car to ride in

Thanks Dad for selling your pride and joy of a truck, your 1992 Toyota. I know you have been through a lot with it, but I really appreciate you selling it yesterday and getting a car that would be safe for me to ride in. I like our new 1999 subaru and look forward to riding in it with you and mom and the dogs. I think the dogs know I am coming soon. Daisy is being really protective of mom and Jack sniffs her belly all the time...I cannot wait to meet them too!

Learning about babies

Mom and dad to be have started their birthing classes and have met lots of nice people that will all be having little friends for me to play with. We learned all about anatomy and last night we even practiced positions and breathing for contractions. Let's home mom is more of a speedster than a putterer, cause I do not think a 20 hour labor sounds like fun for anyone...

No More Sugar for the mama to be

so its out with the sugar, juice and anything good in the eating world for the next 6 weeks. Mom has got the gestational diabetes thing going now for sure, which means that if she eats that stuff then it might just deposit as fat on me, making it hard for her to deliver me normally. I know she really wants a decaf mocha with extra whip cream and a yummy peice of coffee cake, but she just needs to wait on that for now. Other than that, we are all doing well.

Getting the nursery ready

My parent's are busy getting the nursery ready--their friends Charisse and Padraic gave them all kinds of goodies like a crib, changing table and a glider chair...plus they got a lot of great stuff from all their friends and family at the shower (thanks everyone)...so things are starting to look more ready for my arrival....but they have quite ways to go still...
